Why choose asana?

A note from Jill

Some days I don’t feel like doing a single “vinyasa” in class. Even the most gentle class feels exhausting. Those are the times when my body is trying to tell me to slow down! I also know how my practice has kept my body strong and injury free during the intensity and pump-you-up excitement of training for a triathlon.

Here at Asana, we are all about listening to what your body is saying to the mind. What’s going on in your life, your goals, and even the season plays a part on how you can support yourself best.

You’re going to love the vitality and feel-good oomph after a hard effort and sweaty practice. And also — when you just need to finally slow the eff down — those super blissful, slow and deep flows that bring the heart comfort and the body some delicious yawns are THE BEST !

We’re here for you – for the healing salty waters — from the heart pumping sweatfest flow to holding the tears of medicine your heart needed in that deep yin pose.

We mean it. This {life} journey is so sacred — and when you step deeper into it, it feels so good to have others right there with you.

Much Love, Jill Signature

Class Descriptions

If you’re not sure which class to attend, don’t hesitate to reach out. Also, all our classes offer modifications, and ways to support your body.

Most importantly, listen to your body, take a child’s pose when you need it, and also explore challenge with curiosity.

This gentle class can be very supportive for yogis who prefer a less physically demanding practice, such as seniors, those recovering from an injury, with limited capabilities or even those who are simply looking for a softer practice.

Focusing on restoration, this class maintains a much more relaxed pace, creating more time for resting between poses to allow the body to recover, offering modifications, incorporating deep restorative postures, and creating space for meditation and breathwork.

GENTLE BEGINNER: Accessible to those desiring a slower paced and more gentle practice. Modifications, variations, and props will be provided for all postures.

ROOM TEMPERATURE: 78 – 80°

TEACHER: Meredith Hoffman

Explore mindful movement in this foundational class designed to integrate breathwork with building vitality and strength. Students will have the opportunity to build balance, proprioception, alignment and meditation skills in this upbeat 60 minute flow.

BEGINNER: Perfect for those new to yoga and all body types. Modifications, variations, and props will be provided for those wanting to soften or increase intensity.

ROOM TEMPERATURE: 80 – 82°

TEACHER: Maple

Nourish your heart + soul + body through ancient Tantric practices integrated through the movements of yoga + meditation + breath work.

This class integrates energy healing throughout the practice as a means to support your energy system. This practice is deep + slow + mindful, creating more inner awareness + brightening your inner Light.

Because this class is intuitively guided, sometimes you might experience move movement, or breath work, or meditation. Come knowing you will feel nourished and connected to God/Source – it’s like your yoga “church”.

ALL LEVELS: This class is perfect for those beginning yoga or wanting to deepen their practice.

ROOM TEMPERATURE: 80 – 82°

TEACHER: Jill Nelson

Sol Flow is a good class to learn foundational poses, relaxation techniques, become comfortable with yoga, and explore new ways of moving. Yet, this class is never dull and always offering ways to challenge the seasoned yogi + the new student.

Our intention is to guide you to find more harmony between body, mind, and spirit through the integration of yoga poses and subtle energy practices, such as: breath work, meditation, and creative sequences.

BEGINNER | INTERMEDIATE: A perfect blend of a little bit of heat and challenge, but also a little slowing and cooling. Alignment cues and more static postures with optional challenges throughout.

ROOM TEMPERATURE: 80 – 82°

TEACHERS: Jill Nelson and Melina Johnson

This class is a blend of a vinyasa flow for the first part half of the class and restorative postures at the end. Classes will vary and restorative postures may be at the beginning and ending.

Yinyasa a delightful blend of movement and rest. Combining the heat and intensity of the flow and the deep restorative rest, This class at the end of the day is the perfect way to unwind and calm down so that you can prepare for deeper sleep.

While the movement, the yang aspects, create flow of energy and clear stagnation, you also enjoy a little cardio and maybe even some sweat. Yin and restorative postures are poses held for longer periods of time, around 3-5 minutes. This allows you to get into deeper, connective tissues to help support your joints and soothe your nervous system.

BEGINNER | INTERMEDIATE: A perfect blend of a little bit of heat and challenge, but also a little slowing and cooling.

ROOM TEMPERATURE: 82 – 84°

TEACHER: Lindsay Silver

This class is based on a vinyasa style practice. The word vinyasa means “breath-synchronized movement.” In other words, the teacher will guide you to move from one pose to the next on an inhale or an exhale. This flow allows the poses to smoothly run together and becomes a meditative movement.

This style allows for a lot of variety. There is no single philosophy, rule book, or sequence that teachers must follow. so, expect a new, fun, and different class every time you come. If you enjoy a challenge, a little more sweat, and some fun inversions and arm balances, then this class is for you.

Expect each class to vary in intensity and intention.

INTERMEDIATE: Get ready to sweat and challenge yourself. Modifications, variations, and props will be provided for those wanting to soften or increase intensity.

ROOM TEMPERATURE: 83 – 85°

TEACHERS: Becca Ingram

A powerful vinyasa class focused on pairing movement with breath, in a room heated to 95 degrees. Flow through poses at an intermediate pace, building heat and flexibility.

This class will move through the same sequence of poses each month. This is a great way to see yourself improve in strength and balance. Come sweat and flow with us!

INTERMEDIATE: Get ready to sweat and challenge yourself. Modifications, variations, and props will be provided for those wanting to soften or increase intensity.

ROOM TEMPERATURE: 95 – 97°

TEACHER: Delaney Ryde

This class is an energetic fusion of pilates and vinyasa style yoga focusing on core strength, balance, and flexibility. Movements are designed to enhance the mind-body connection and the flow to release stagnant energy. Class will incorporate foundational pilates core work, attention to deep support muscles, and improved flexibility. Expect both creative and traditional yoga asanas throughout.

The ancient practice of yoga and modern teachings of pilates are well suited to work cooperatively toward improved well-being. This invigorating class provides an opportunity to enhance one’s emotional state through the natural release of endorphins. It is a perfect practice for anyone looking to reignite physically and realign mentally.
